MISSION STATEMENT OF SFSC

The Sweetwater Figure Skating Club's purpose is to introduce people of all ages to the sport of figure skating; to provide a safe, healthy environment to learn; to promote a fun skating experience; to provide a goal-oriented program that encourages figure skating at all levels and ages; and to enhance the artistic development and quality of skating skills at these levels.

The Sweetwater Figure Skating Club's home rink is the Rock Springs Family Rec Center Ice Arena in Rock Springs, Wyoming.

If you are interested in skating with the club and missed registration, you may join at any time.  Just e-mail the webmaster at the link below or show up during club ice any day and someone will assist you.  For club ice times, follow the link.

The Sweetwater Figure Skating Club is proud to announce that two of its skaters will be representing the club and Rock Springs at the USFS Junior National Championships for the second year in a row.  CONGRATULATIONS to AMANDA VERHEYDT and ISABEAU HILLS!  Amanda is the Northwest Pacific Regional Juvenile Girls gold medalist for a second consecutive year; Isabeau placed fourth and earned the pewter medal.  Junior Nationals will be held in East Lansing, Michigan, December 10th - 14th.

Amanda earned Special Achievement Awards for earning + 2 GOE on elements in the qualifying and final round and for Highest Points on Spins overall in Qualifying Round B.

Isabeau earned Special Achievement Awards for earning + 2 GOE on elements in the qualifying and final round and for Highest Points on Spins overall in Qualifying Round Group A AND Final Round overall.

Maya Verheydt is also a Northwest Pacific Gold medalist having placed 1st at the Preliminary level!!

GREAT JOB, SFSC SKATERS!  WAY TO REPRESENT!!!!!

News from 2012 USFS Junior National Championships in East Lasing, Michigan!!

SFSC is proud to announce that for the first time in the history of the club and in the state of Wyoming, its member, AMANDA VERHEYDT, has placed in the Top 10 at the National level!  Congratulations for your well-deserved placement (10th overall!!)

* AMANDA VERHEYDT placed 7th in her qualifying round and has advanced to the final round/Top 20 at Jr. Nationals!!!!!

* ISABEAU HILLS placed 16th in her qualifying round/33rd overall by score, Top 40 finish!

RESULTS FROM SNAKE RIVER SKATEFEST
Idaho Falls, Idaho

McKenzie Bonner (left) and Rose Robertson (right) won awards at the Snake River Skatefest competition on January 21st, 2012, in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

McKenzie, skating at the Freeskate 5 level, won gold in Freeskate, Compulsory and Interpretive Improv.  She also won the silver medal in the Showcase event.
 
Rose, skating at the Freeskate 6 level, won gold in Freeskate and Compulsory.  She also skated at the Pre-Preliminary level in Interpretive Improv and won a silver medal.
 
The girls brought home the Third Place Team Trophy as representatives of the Sweetwater Figure Skating Club!
